Edina Country Club- Private Club
From its original inception in 1923 as the Thorpe Country Club to its present
configuration, the Edina Country Club has a history rich in tradition and member
support.
The original clubhouse, which was built in 1923, burned to the ground on Halloween, 1929. It was replaced by a rich, colonial structure on what is now the present fifth green and sixth tee. This building endured until 1959 when it was replaced by the present clubhouse.
Three multi-million dollar renovations of the clubhouse were completed in May 1989, April 1994 and June of 2005, which have helped make the Edina Country Club one of the most prestigious and desirable in the entire Upper Midwest. The tradition at Edina is one of excellence in programs, service, and facilities. Many superlative comments have been received from members and guests alike on the high standards and the “user friendly” staff of the Club.
The recent success of the Edina Country Club has not caused a complacent attitude among the membership nor the Board of Directors. A long-range plan has been developed to ensure the Club’s needs are met in the future. Using input from the various committees of the Club, an extensive list of improvements have been developed which will keep the Edina Country Club at the cutting edge of member satisfaction for the next decade and beyond.
Examples of our planned improvements have been the complete redesign and
replacement of both of our pools, surrounding pool deck and clubhouse renovation. Our Long Range Planning Committee is always examining ways to insure that the Edina Country Club remains one of the finest private clubs in the Midwestern United States.
